I began my art career over 20 years ago, and work now primarily in natural light outdoors, and then I compose my studio pieces from various plein air studies.? I do this in order to use them to understand the light in the landscape and the atmospheric conditions while staying true to color and tone as seen in real time.? It is atmosphere and light that attracts the imagination when outdoors and leaves lasting impressions, which I work to capture. Of note, much of my plein air work is by pallet knife.
At this time, I am continuing to develop my craft by focusing on the atelier method of art education taught at the Boston Academy of Realist Art.? It is informing my eye and honing my skills further as I continue to take my paints outdoors. Lucky me!
I? have had several solo shows and won a number of awards in the past at various art festivals and contests.? In 2017, I was a finalist in Artist Magazine?s Plein Air Contest and received the R. Duffy Memorial Award from the Academic Artist Association in 2016.
Besides Surroundings Art Gallery, I also have work at the NW Barrett Gallery in Portsmouth, NH and the South Street Gallery in Hingham, MA.
