 Peg Scully lives in Freedom, NH where she has a studio and gallery. She studied oil painting at the Ridgewood (NJ) Art Institute with Arthur Maynard, at the University of Cincinnati, at Pratt Institute, and at the Worcester Art Museum School. Peg studied watercolor painting with Tony Van Hasselt and Judi Wagner.
An accomplished portrait painter, Peg also enjoys plein air painting, striving to achieve an effect of light and atmosphere in all her work through her choice of values and color. She has taught classes and workshops in Freedom and through the Mount Washington Valley Art Association in landscape, figure and still life painting. Her work has been exhibited at the American Watercolor Society and she has won numerous firsts and seconds at the MWVAA shows including First Place at the Winter Show, 2008. Peg recently won Best in Watercolor at the Newburyport Art Association Juried Fall Show Part II in October, 2011, and was given the Hines Charitable Foundation Award for work in Watercolor at the NAA Annual Regional Show in 2012. Peg is a Signature Member of the New England Watercolor Society where she won The Mary Jo Rines Award for Innovation in Watercolor at the 2012 NEWS Annual North American Open Show.
