Luisa is a Folk-Artist who does decorative painting in a variety of styles. Growing up in Germany, she admired Alpine style folk art as well as the Norwegian style of “Rosemaling”, the Norwegian word for decorative painting, and the Russian “Zhostovo”. Now, living in New Hampshire for the past 20 years, Luisa has added American folk art to her repertoire. She says, “at first it was the different styles of Europe, later the fascination included all styles of painting including Pennsylvania Dutch and Rufus Porter of New England. The experience never ends.”
She uses mostly acrylic paints and save varnishes. She paints all manner of furniture including chairs, trunks, tables, clocks, desks, wall decorations and perhaps whatever you bring her. A specialty is her “floor-cloth” painting.
Luisa has a degree in Architecture and enjoys being a member of several local galleries.
